BREAKING | Canucks and Flames have a deal in place: Announcement pending
Moments ago, it was announced that the talks between the Canucks and Flames had been heating up. The news broke that a deal was about to be announced, but there was one little hiccup to the agreement.
Allvin agreed to send the winger Andrei Kuzmenko to the Flames as part of a deal that would bring the Swede centerman Elias Lindholm to the Canucks. However, in the contract the Russian signed a little under a year ago, Kuzmenko holds the rights to a 12 Team No Trade, which includes the Flames:
''As
@FriedgeHNIC
reported, there is a trade agreed upon bw #Canucks & #Flames that will see Elias Lindholm go to VAN.
Andrei Kuzmenko is part of the agreed-upon deal. However, Calgary is on his no-trade list. He has to approve the trade first. I'm told that process is ongoing.''
Rick Dhaliwal just reported that Kuzmenko's agent, Dan Milstein, was working with his client to get him to waive his NTC.
Darren Dreger also added later that Lindholm could be headed to Vancouver even if Kuzmenko did not waive his NTC. Hard to assume there wouldn't be a first-round draft pick along with a top-end prospect on this deal.
