The trade market is about to activate big time and the sellers have started emerging. Known to be on the market as heavy buyers, the Canucks could very well be the benefactors of it.

In an article released in The Athletic, the Montreal Canadiens' Journalist Arpon Basu revealed that the Stanley Cup winning veteran David Savard will get traded:

David Savard will get traded: The Canadiens don't necessarily want to do this right now, because they consider Savard to be an important leadership presence in their room and they are sensitive to that after already removing Sean Monahan from that mix. But with demand seemingly sky-high for defensemen who fit Savard's profile — a physical shot blocker with a Cup ring — the market price might get so high they wouldn't have much of a choice but to take it. The Canadiens are sensitive to what Savard means to their young group, but they are also sensitive to asset management. — Arpon Basu

A player that can do it all, Savard is a right handed stay-at-home defenceman. Steady, experienced and reliable, he's 6'01'' and over 230 pounds. He knows how to play the mean game and it's clearly something the Canucks could use more of.

Currently earning a reasonable $3.5M until the end of the 2024-2025 season, it wouldn't too much of a puzzle to make it happen especially since the Canadiens have the room to take some salary.

Allvin already connected with the Canadiens this season when he sent Tanner Pearson there to acquire DeSmith, should he inquiring about the veteran defenceman now?
