On Thursday, the Calgary Flames announced that they've agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract worth $2.85 million ($950,000 AAV) with defensive prospect Hunter Brzustewicz.
Brzustewicz, 19, was selected in the third round, 75th overall, by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. So far this season in 62 games with the Ontario Hockey League's Kitchener Rangers, the Washington, Michigan native has 85 points (12 goals, 73 assists), 22 penalty minutes and is a plus-32.
His 85 points are second among defenceman in the Ontario Hockey League, only sitting behind Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit, who has 87 in 61 games for the 2024 Memorial Cup hosts.
Brzustewicz, along with Andrei Kuzmenko, Joni Jurmo, a 2024 first-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick where packaged up and shipped to the Calgary Flames back on January 31st in exchange for Elias Lindholm.
