MAJOR | Canucks first offer to Filip Hronek revealed: Hronek's camp disgruntled already?
Now that Elias Pettersson has signed his extension, the market's focus has switched to Filip Hronek. The Czech Defenseman has been excellent ever since he made his Canucks' debut, and as a pending restricted free agent, he's looking at a vital pay raise.
Various reports have been released suggesting some comparables and adding that Filip Hronek and his agents were expecting a raise that almost doubled his current $4.4M AAV, which would, at the very least, start with an eight. Without any surprise, the Canucks aren't anywhere near that ballpark.
It was revealed earlier last week that the Canucks had formally submitted their first offer; now, the numbers behind it all have been partially revealed. According to the Canucks Analyst Irgan Gaffar, Patirik Allvin and his crew would've offered the Hronek clan an eight-year offer in the $52-54M range. Which would divide up to an approximately $6.75M annual cap hit:
Irf believes Canucks offer to Hronek was in the 52-54 mill dollar range (8 yrs).
"The first initial offer, I don't think, was received too well (by Hronek and his camp)
Quinn Hughes is currently the Canucks highest-paid defenceman. The team's captain signed a six6-year deal carrying a $7.85M cap hit, and every source is confident that the Canucks aren't willing to go anywhere near that number.
Could they meet in the middle, somewhere in the $7.1M or $7.2M over the next eight years? Alongside Quinn Hughes, the 26-year-old has a career-best season with 45 points through 66 games.
