A former Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smythe Trophy winner has been named as a potential trade target for General Manager Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks this summer.

the Vancouver Canucks are expected expected to be very busy this summer as Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin search for solutions to improve the team's forward group.
A second line centerman is understandably going to be their biggest need this summer, but with Brock Boeser expected to become a free agent July 1st, it looks like the club could be in the market for a top-six winger as well and numerous options have been suggested in recent weeks.

In a recent article on The Athletic, Harman Dayal and Thomas Drance took a look at several players the team could target via trade during the offseason and there's a number of intriguing names to keep an eye on.
Among the players mentioned by Dayal and Drance is 2023 Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Marchessault, who spent the 2024-25 season with the Nashville Predators after signing a five-year deal with them last summer.
"Overall, Marchessault has remained productive through his early 30s. He scored 42 goals in 2023-24 and won the Conn Smythe the year prior in 2023. The Canucks should consider kicking tires on him if the acquisition cost is discounted, though they'll need to avoid landing on the 15-team no-trade list he's contractually entitled to." Dayal and Drance said.

Many have been surprised that Jonathan Marchessault's name has been mentioned in trade rumors this early into his contract with the Nashville Predators, but according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the 34-year-old is open to a move this summer, with the Montreal Canadiens named as a possible landing spot.
"Frank Seravalli: Jon Marchessault open to the idea of being traded this offseason; Montreal would be a favourable landing spot - Daily Faceoff Live" NHL Rumour Report said on X.
Marchessault, a native of Cap-Rouge, Quebec, registered 56 points (21 goals, 35 assists), 37 penalty minutes and was a -29 in 78 games during his first season with the Nashville Predators.
While Jonathan Marchessault hasn't slowed down in terms of his production, his contract, when combined with his age, is a bit of an anchor as he's owed $5.5 million annually until he's 38, something that the Vancouver Canucks might not be comfortable doing at this time.
Nevertheless, Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford will certainly consider all their options and it wouldn't be a shock if Jonathan Marchessault's name is brought up by the two as they look for a scoring winger.
