According to Rick Dhaliwal, the Canucks are looking to add another centerman and mentioned that they've reached out to players, but have told them to wait to so they can clear some cap space.
Dhaliwal went on to link the Canucks to a pair of UFA's - Maxime Comtois and Pius Suter.
Comtois, 24, has taken a bit of a step back in his development over the last two seasons after putting up 33 points in 55 games during the 2020-21 campaign. This past season, the Longueuil, Quebec native appeared in 64 games where he recorded 19 points (nine goals, ten assists), 76 penalty minutes and was a minus-20.
Suter, a native of Zurich, Switzerland, is slightly older than Comtois at 27-years-old, but has been more productive. In his three seasons in the NHL, Suter has 87 points (43 goals, 44 assists) in 216 games.
Both Comtois and Suter play a completely different style of game, so it's going to come down to two factors. The first being, which player does Patrik Allvin think will fit in better to the team's system. Secondly, which one of the two players will come at a lower cap hit, especially given their salary cap situation.
