On Tuesday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks hit the ice at their practice facility in preparation for Wednesday's game against the New York Islanders.
After the team took to the ice, the Canucks' X account announces that the team was making a roster move, bringing up defenceman Akito Hirose from Abbotsford of the American Hockey League.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Akito Hirose has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL)."
The decision to bring Akito Hirose up from the American Hockey League likely signals that Carson Soucy will be out of action a little while after blocking a shot during Sunday's game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Hirose, 24, has already appeared in two games for the Canucks this season, but has no points, no penalty minutes and has an even-rating. In 11 games with Abbotsford, he also has no points, along with four penalty minutes and is a plus-two.
Puck drop for tomorrow's game against Bo Horvat and the New York Islanders is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET and can be viewed on Sportsnet Pacific in the Canucks viewing region.
