MAJOR | Vancouver Canucks forward Ilya Mikheyev has left the team
A bit of a strange situation is unfolding in Vancouver as on-ice sessions at training camp are getting underway on Thursday.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin shared that forward Ilya Mikheyev is no longer with the team and has left training camp due to personal reasons.
"Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Ilya Mikheyev has left Training Camp for personal reasons." The Canucks said on social media.
Mikheyev, 28, only appeared in 46 games last season in his first year with the Canucks due to an ACL injury. Yesterday, it was revealed that Mikheyev is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery but wasn't quite ready to resume at an NHL level.
The Omsk, Russia native has three years remaining on his contract with the Canucks at a cap hit of $4.75 million and has a modified no-trade clause, which includes a 12-team no-trade list.
Everyone here at CanucksDaily sends their best wishes to Ilya Mikheyev and hope he is doing okay.
