A trade proposal has emerged that would send goaltender Thatcher Demko to one of the Vancouver Canucks' rivals, if he officially becomes available this summer.

The offseason is just getting started around the National Hockey League and it's expected to get even busier over the next week with the start of the Entry Draft and the opening of free agency both just days away.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin is hoping to get in on the action this summer and with a logjam between the pipes due to a contract extension given to Kevin Lankinen and the strong play of Arturs Silovs in the American Hockey League, it could mean that Thatcher Demko is expendable this summer.

Last month, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that Vancouver Canucks netminder Thatcher Demko was open to a change of scenery as he enters the final year of his contract this fall.
"Goalie Thatcher Demko appears open to a change of scenery and is expected to be in play as he enters the final year of his contract." Pagnotta said.

If the Vancouver Canucks decide they're willing to part ways with Thatcher Demko during the offseason, something that some insiders believe could happen, there won't be a shortage of teams lining up trying to acquire him.
The Fourth Period reported on Monday that the Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks are all looking for goaltending help this summer, but it isn't clear if they've reached out to speak with Vancouver regarding Thatcher Demko.
After getting subpar goaltending during the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers will likely make landing a goaltender one of their top priorities this summer, along with locking up captain Connor McDavid to a contract extension.
Nestor Quixtan of Heavy.com shared an interesting trade proposal involving Vancouver and Edmonton which would see the Oilers land Thatcher Demko and a 2025 fourth round pick, while the Canucks would acquire forward prospect Matt Savoie and goaltender Calvin Pickard.
"EDMONTON OILERS GET:

Thatcher Demko, 2025 4th Round Pick

VANCOUVER CANUCKS GET:

Matt Savoie, Calvin Pickard" Quixtan said.

Thatcher Demko, if 100 percent healthy, would probably be a decent fit for the Edmonton Oilers, who have struggled to find a true number one goaltender over the last several years.
As for what the Vancouver Canucks would get in return, Matt Savoie would bring some much needed offense to the team's prospect pool after registering 54 points in 66 games during his first full season of professional hockey in the AHL.
The St. Albert, Alberta native is close to making the jump to the National Hockey League and could possibly do so at some point next season.
The one piece of Quixtan's trade proposal that doesn't make a whole lot of sense on Vancouver's end is bringing in goaltender Calvin Pickard, as while he's a solid backup in his own right, it would just create a new dilemma in the crease for the Canucks, especially with Arturs Silovs being ready for a full-time NHL role.
Patrik Allvin will likely be receiving calls over the next week or so about Thatcher Demko's availability and many are curious to see if he'll end up being moved, or if the Canucks capitalize on Silovs' value and move him for a piece that can help right now.
