Quinn Hughes' uncertain future with the Vancouver Canucks was mentioned by a fellow NHLer from British Columbia during a recent podcast appearance.

With less than 24 months to go until Quinn Hughes is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent, Vancouver Canucks fans are certainly anxious about what the future holds for the team's captain.
The possibility of Hughes leaving was was first mentioned by Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford, who said that he has said he'd like to play with his brothers at some point in his National Hockey League career.
"It may not boil down to money with [Quinn]. He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here." Rutherford said in April.

The 25-year-old's future in Vancouver has been talked about quite a bit earlier this offseason, including from national broadcasters such as Sportsnet and TSN, but recently on a podcast, a current NHLer also briefly mentioned Hughes' situation when discussing a move his own team made this summer.

British Columbia's Mat Barzal mentions Quinn Hughes situation on podcast

During an appearance on the ForePlayPod, New York Islanders forward Mat Barzal spoke about his team's big summer thus far, which included the hiring of Mathieu Darche, trading away Noah Dobson for a pair of first round picks (plus Emil Heineman) and selecting defenseman Matthew Schaefer first overall.
When speaking about Matthew Schaefer will bring to the New York Islanders in the coming years, Barzal believes he's a player that you can only acquire through the draft as ones like him aren't available in free agency nor do they become available for trade often.
Barzal began to give examples of defenseman that were drafted and unlikely to ever leave their current team, mentioning Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes, although with the latter, he said he's uncertain what's going on with him in Vancouver.
"He's [Schaefer] one of those guys like you can't get until you draft. Like you have to draft a kid like that because teams never let guys like that ever go. Like Cale Makar is never going to leave Colorado, you know what I mean?" Barzal said.

He added, "I don't know what's going on with Quinn Hughes in Vancouver right now, but those kind of d-men are so, and I feel like to get to that next level as a franchise, you need one of those guys. You're always in the hunt when you have a good d-core and him and that Aitcheson kid who we just drafted, those two are going to set up so nicely for the next 15 years."
As things stand now, the odds of Quinn Hughes leaving the Vancouver seems quite slim and any possibility of him being traded would require a complete collapse from the Canucks in the next year or so.
However, players around the National Hockey League are starting to notice the uncertainty and could be wondering if there's a chance Quinn Hughes could join their team if he hits the open market on July 1st, 2027.
