Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser revealed on Wednesday what changed his mind about potentially leaving the organization as a unrestricted free agent yesterday.
Heading into the opening of the National Hockey League's free agent market on Tuesday, Vancouver Canucks fans were prepared to officially say goodbye to forward Brock Boeser after parts of nine seasons with the club and were waiting to see where he'd end up.
It felt like Brock Boeser was gone and that his time with the Vancouver Canucks had come to a close and on Wednesday when meeting with reporters, the Burnsville, Minnesota opened up about what changed his mind about leaving the only NHL team he's ever known.

When speaking with the media today, Brock Boeser shared that he got a phone call from Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin an hour before the NHL's free agent market opened and it led to the two sides working out a long-term deal.
"In my head, I think I was fully set on going somewhere else. And so I had kind of a list of teams in my head that I thought maybe would be good fits and and then I just still was kind of uneasy about everything. And then they called, and, you know, at the end of the day, I think my heart was still at Vancouver. I have so much faith in our team and the pieces that we have. And, you know, I think Adam Foote too. I think he's going to be a great head coach. So I think everything just lined up well. And I'm just super stoked to be back." Boeser said.
Losing Brock Boeser would've been devastating for the Vancouver Canucks' forward group as the 28-year-old has registered 20+ goals in four of the last five seasons and for a team that desperately needed offensive help, they retained one of the club's best goal scorers over the last half-decade.
By re-signing with the Vancouver Canucks at an average annual value of $7.25 million US, Brock Boeser likely left at least a $1-1.5 million on the table from other teams who were after him in a relatively weak free agent class this year.
With Brock Boeser now locked up and
Evander Kane acquired from the Edmonton Oilers, the only thing that's missing from the Vancouver Canucks' top-six forward group is a second line centerman, but with a lack of cap space, they made need to start the year with
Filip Chytil in that role.
