Canucks' other Elias Pettersson makes statement cementing his presence
Vancouver Canucks top prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki has finally made the move to North America, still searching for his first point with the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks through his first three games. Likewise, defensive prospect Elias Pettersson (no, not the current Canucks superstar) has also recently made the move overseas, looking for his first point through two games.
Pettersson, a 2022 third-round pick and two-time representative of Sweden at the World Juniors, quickly came to the defense of Lekkerimaki after a late hit during Abbotsford's win over the Colorado Eagles on March 30:
Defenseman Nick Cicek also came to the defense of the 19-year-old forward.
I'm going to stick up every time for my teammates.
And if that happens again, I'm going to be there again.
- Elias Pettersson, Abbotsford Canucks
Pettersson, 20, has recorded six penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in his first two games with Abbotsford.
