Derek Forbort's agent, head coach and teammate spoke out after the blueliner was sucker punched by Minnesota Wild forward Yakov Trenin on Saturday night.

During the third period of last night's game, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Derek Forbort was sucker punched on Saturday by Yakov Trenin of the Minnesota Wild while the officials were trying to break up the pair after dropping the mitts.
Forbort was shaken up and in quite a bit of pain following the punch and left the game, while Trenin was ejected from the contest after landing a ten-minute misconduct for being the aggressor.

Coach, teammate & agent speak out for following Saturday's game

In the aftermath of Derek Forbort being on the receiving end of Trenin's sucker punch, head coach Rick Tocchet, defenseman Marcus Pettersson and the blueliner's agent, Ben Hankinson, all spoke out about the incident.
While speaking with reporters, both Rick Tocchet and Marcus Pettersson said that it was one of the worst things they've ever seen in a game.
"Rick Tocchet agreed with Marcus Pettersson's assessment that the Yakov Trenin punch on Derek Forbort was one of the worst things he's seen. Said he didn't have an update on Forbort." Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet said.
"Marcus Pettersson called the Trenin punch on Forbort one of the worst things he's seen. Said he didn't like it at all." Batchelor said.
Forbort's agent, Ben Hankinson, took to social media to share his displeasure about the punch, calling it a cheap shot and a dirty play - which it absolutely was.
"No respect-cheap shot while Forbort was down on the ice. Dirty play!" Hankinson said.
Former NHL defenseman Chris Pronger, who spent a few seasons assisting the Department of Player Safety after he retired, doesn't believe that Trenin's punch warrants any supplemental discipline.
Pronger, in a back-and-forth with Jeff Paterson of Rink Wide: Vancouver on X, said that Derek Forbort was a willing combatant and that the alleged cheap shot is not against the rules, to his understanding.
"Jeff is there a rule in book that states this is in fact illegal? He was a willing combatant and while allegedly a cheap shot it is not against the rules to my understanding. Do you know otherwise? Seriously asking btw" Pronger said.
Unfortunately for Derek Forbort, Rick Tocchet confirmed on Sunday that his season is over after suffering a broken orbital bone and with his contract expiring this summer, it could be the end of his time in Vancouver.

Do you think the Vancouver Canucks will seek retribution against Yakov Trenin when they play each other next season?
