Edmonton radio shows disrespect towards Canucks captain Quinn Hughes
It's an all-Canadian matchup in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the Vancouver Canucks battle the Edmonton Oilers for the first time in the post-season since 1992. No doubt there will be shots fired by both team's fan bases on social media, even before the series gets underway.
There will also be plenty of chirping between the two fan bases, and even a guest on Oilers Now, a radio show with Bob Stauffer, took a shot at Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes. The guest said that it looks like Quinn Hughes is going to cry all the time.
"And then Quinn Hughes has always struck me as the kind of player who, if you start pulverizing him, looks like he's going to cry all the time." the guest said.
He added, "So now you see him, in the last five games, he's taken 17 hits. ... but he's taken 17 hits in the five games leading into this one, so they're making a concerted effort, and it maybe looks like it's paying some dividends."
It's also pretty funny to hear them say that Quinn Hughes is "always crying" when he gets "pulverized" when Oilers forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are in the ears of the referees every single game when a call doesn't go their way. There's no doubting their talent; they're two of the greatest players in hockey right now, but they're always complaining when the calls don't go their way.
It'll be interesting to see how this series goes. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are at the top of their game right now, putting up 12 and 10 points in their first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings. For the Canucks, they'll need J.T. Miller, Brock Boeser and Quinn Hughes to carry over their play from the first round against Nashville, but they desperately need Elias Pettersson to get going.
