Former Vancouver Canucks head coach and Jack Adams award winner, Rick Tocchet is not done yet talking about his former team, and this time he has a very specific and strong message to the fan base.

After a disappointing 2024-2025 season for the Canucks filled with injuries, criticism and internal locker room rift between forwards Elias Pettersson and now New York Ranger J.T. Miller, Rick Tocchet decided he no longer wanted to lead Vancouver.

Rick Tocchet has a strong message to the Vancouver Canucks fan base

There was speculation through out the season that he was uninterested in signing a contract extension, which was only further emphasized when the Philadelphia Flyers fired controversial head coach John Tortorella.
A lot of the fan base and members of the media are pretty upset that Tocchet decided to leave, and in their words "quit" on the team.
But, the former head coach wants to make one think perfectly clear to the Canucks fan base that he is not a quitter.
"You have to tell your friends and the people of Vancouver, that I am not a quitter"
Cleary the noise and comments are getting to him as just two weeks ago, Tocch gave an exclusive interview highlighting this fact, but he really needed to double down.
A lot lotta fans understand why you left, but saying embrace the hard, meet pressure with pressure and they think that you quit on the Canucks, what are your comments about that? What do you think about those to say that?

Hey, I understand it, I can see where they are coming from. Listen, I can explain to them how I am not a quitter, but I understand where they are coming from.

Sometimes in life you have decisions you got to make and you hit the cross roads and have to go right or left and sometimes you make the right decisions, sometimes you don't but you have to go with your conviction.

it wasn't a quit thing, it was just something I felt for me was to evolve. - Rick Tocchet

At the end of the day, his contract was up and wanted to join an organization and city that hits close to home, and we as Canucks fans should wish him luck on this net chapter.
