An insider has given an update on Vancouver Canucks forward Pius Suter, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday, July 1st at 9 am PT.

The Vancouver Canucks have a couple of names to keep an eye on over the next few weeks leading up to July 1st, with both Brock Boeser and Pius Suter set to become unrestricted free agents.
While Brock Boeser isn't likely to return, the Vancouver Canucks, who are desperate for help down the middle, have been hoping to hold onto Pius Suter, but back in April weren't too interested with the number the Swiss forward was seeking.

Insider gives update on Pius Suter's future with the Vancouver Canucks

It's been quite a while since there's been any sort of update on where things stand between the Vancouver Canucks and Pius Suter's camp, but fans got one on Tuesday thanks to Thomas Drance of The Athletic.
According to Drance, there is no new traction between the Vancouver Canucks and Pius Suter regarding a contract, but the two sides are staying in touch and aren't closing the door completely on a return next season.
"However, there's no new traction between Vancouver and Suter's camp. The club and the player are staying in touch, but Suter has set himself up to cash in significantly this summer as a result of his 25-goal platform year." Drance said.

He added, "The Canucks aren't necessarily closed off to getting a bit uncomfortable in order to retain Suter. It's more a matter of ''not now'' than it is a matter of closing the door entirely."

Suter, a native of Zurich, Switzerland, is coming off the best season of his National Hockey League career, so far, which which earned him a vote for the Selke Trophy earlier this week.
In 81 games this season for the Vancouver Canucks, Suter put up 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a plus-two.
With the strong year he had for Vancouver during the 2024-25 campaign, Suter certainly set himself up nicely for a big jump in pay on the free agent market after making $1.6 million in each of the last two seasons in Vancouver.
