The worst General Manager in the Vancouver Canucks' franchise history has been identified recently following a vote involving fans on social media.

Throughout the Vancouver Canucks' 55-year history, they've had some good General Manager, including their current one, Patrik Allvin, along with some bad ones as well.
Earlier this week, Canucks Army shared results from their fan vote on social media on who the greatest General Manager Vancouver has ever had, with that title going to Pat Quinn and just a couple days later, they've revealed who has been voted as the team's worst GM and the name shouldn't come as much of a shock to fans.

Vancouver Canucks' worst General Manager of all-time identified following fan vote on X

In a post on X yesterday, Canucks Army revealed that fans have chosen Patrik Allvin's predecessor, Jim Benning, as the worst General Manager in Vancouver Canucks franchise history.
"Jim Benning was voted the worst GM in Canucks history." Canucks Army said.
Jim Benning's time with the Vancouver Canucks began in May 2014, just about a month before the National Hockey League's Entry Draft and to be fair, he did an alright job his first time around.
In the first round he took Jake Virtanen and Jared McCann, the latter of whom he dealt after his rookie year in 2015-16, along with Thatcher Demko in round two and two-time Stanley Cup champion Gustav Forsling in round five, who ended up being moved less than 12 months after Benning drafted him.
Among other notable draft selections made by Benning include Brock Boeser (2015), Adam Gaudette (2015), Elias Pettersson (2017), Quinn Hughes (2018) and Nils Hoglander (2019).
While Benning did have his fair share of solid draft picks, there were some real misses too such as taking Olli Juolevi fifth overall in 2016 when players like Matthew Tkachuk, Clayton Keller, Mikhail Sergachev and Charlie McAvoy were still available.
The 2020 and 2021 Entry Drafts have come back to bite the Canucks in a big way as none of the 11 players selected have suited up in the NHL, with Danila Klimovich and Aku Koskenvuo the two most likely to ever get to the league from those two draft classes.
Aside from the draft, Benning didn't do particularly well on the trade front, two of the big ones that have come back to haunt the club we mentioned earlier - Jared McCann to Florida and Gustav Forsling to Chicago.
Trading away Nick Bonino to the Pittsburgh Penguins in July 2015 is another move that fans weren't too happy about, as he went on to win the Stanley Cup in back-to-back years after being dealt by Jim Benning.
Benning also had some solid trades as well, most notably acquiring J.T. Miller from the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2019 and Oliver Ekman-Larsson & Conor Garland from Arizona in 2021.
On the free agency front, one player that got away that fans weren't pleased with Benning about was former Stanley Cup champion Tyler Toffoli, who signed a four-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens in October 2020.
After he signed with the Canadiens, Benning told the media that he "ran out of time" when trying to get a deal done with the Scarborough, Ontario native, but Toffoli said he was never ever offered a contract by the Canucks ahead of free agency in 2020, a decision that disappointed him.
Jim Benning's tenure was filled with good moves and bad moves, with the latter outweighing the former, and only two trips to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which wasn't good enough and the 62-year-old was ultimately fired by the club in early December 2021.
