Luke Hughes recently commented on the possibility of playing with his brother, Quinn, after signing a long-term extension to remain with the New Jersey Devils.

After a very long negotiation period and missing the majority of training camp, the New Jersey Devils were finally able to lock up Luke Hughes earlier this week to a massive seven-year deal worth $63 million US ($9 million AAV).
"The New Jersey Devils announced today that the team has agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman Luke Hughes on a seven-year contract worth $63,000,000 ($9,000,000 AAV). The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald. He will join the club for practice on Thursday." the club announced earlier this week.

The news of Luke Hughes' contract extension put an end to any trade rumors involving his name, despite some wanting Patrik Allvin to bring him to British Columbia.

Luke Hughes speaks about possibly playing alongside both of his brothers

Ever since Jim Rutherford spoke about the possibility of his captain leaving one day, rumors have been linking Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes to the New Jersey Devils, either via a trade or when he becomes a free agent in 2027.
"It may not boil down to money with [Quinn]. He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here." Jim Rutherford said.

Quinn Hughes has spoken about his future with the Vancouver Canucks countless times over the last month, his brother Jack even talked about the possibility of playing with him eventually, but this week, after signing his new deal, it was Luke's turn to speak about the matter.
When asked by a reporter about the potential for playing with all three of his brothers, Luke said he would love to do that someday, but added that Quinn loves being in Vancouver and being a Canuck, but, you can never say never.
"Yes of course, the 3 of us would love to play together someday. Whether that happens or not who knows. We'll see. I know he loves Vancouver. He's the captain there...You never know. Never say never." Luke Hughes said.
As we inch closer to the beginning of the 2025-26 season, hopefully the Vancouver Canucks are able to get off to a hot start this month and help quiet down those rumors about their captain's future with the club.
