					With out even one game under his belt as Vancouver Canucks' new head coach, the decision for the organization to hire Adam Foote over Manny Malhotra is already under a lot of criticism, and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman speculates on the true reason for the move.
A few weeks back, after months of speculation, ex-head coach Rick Tocchet confirmed all the rumors and decided that his time with the organization as going to come to an end in order to take over as the 
Philadelphia Flyers new bench boss.
Subsequently, Vancouver promoted assistant coach Adam Foote as the teams new leader behind the bench, but it has come with its fair share of criticism.

With how top candidate and head coach of the 
AHL Abbotsford Canucks Manny Malhotra is leading the organizations affiliate in the Memorial Cup Playoffs, other team are taking notice.
With that being said, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman dropped the true reason why the Canucks went in the direction they did.
He stated that after the drama filled season that just took place, they needed a new coach that the team were familiar with.
"One of the biggest things the Canucks had to do was, you can't always make your players happy, but this was a situation where the Canucks knew after the year they had last year, they had to do something with this hire that the players were at least comfortable with," Friedman explained. (TS-2:14)
He continued stating that the comfort level of promoting Foote instead of Malhotra had to do with current players and leaders on the team expressing their fondness for the former assistant.
"The comfort level with Adam Foote and the fact that they knew they needed somebody the players, the key players, would be okay with after the year you had last year - that was the number one thing that was in favor of Adam Foote and the I believe the reason that ultimately the Canucks made the choice," Friedman added.
In reality, all the criticism and speculation about if Foote is the right choice doesn't matter until he finishes his first season, where the proof will be in the pudding.
