New Development Reveals the One Condition Under Which the Vancouver Canucks Will Trade Elias Pettersson

Throughout the 2024-25 season, Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson found himself in the middle of trade rumors, especially after a reported feud with J.T. Miller was made public, however the team opted the move the latter to the New York Rangers.

While Elias Pettersson was taken off the trade block after the Miller deal, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that the team is taking calls regarding the Swede and that at least five teams are interested in him, including the Minnesota Wild.

While many believe that Elias Pettersson will remain with the Vancouver Canucks this summer, you can never say never regarding a trade, especially if Patrik Allvin gets blown away with an offer, potentially from one of those teams mentioned by David Pagnotta.

However, it appears that there's only one way the Vancouver Canucks would move on from the 26-year-old forward, according to Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman.

On Friday, during his 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Vancouver Canucks would only trade Elias Pettersson this summer if it helps them address their issues down the middle.

It's hard to imagine the Vancouver Canucks being able to solve their issues down the middle by trading away their number one centerman in Elias Pettersson and it would essentially be counterintuitive as it'll lead to further problems for Patrik Allvin this summer.

All signs point to Elias Pettersson remaining with the Vancouver Canucks next season and the team's management group using other assets, possibly even their first-round pick, to land a second line centerman that they desperately need.
