NHL Insider Links Vancouver Canucks Forward Nils Hoglander to 3 NHL Teams
Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander has been linked to a trio of National Hockey League teams by ESPN insider Kevin Weekes.
It's been a tough season for Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander, who has registered just five points in 21 games coming into action on Friday afternoon against the Buffalo Sabres.
Yesterday, it was reported by Rick Dhaliwal, that the Vancouver Canucks and Nils Hoglander's agent have been working to try and get the Swedish forward back on track.
"When it comes to Nils Hoglander's struggles of late.
I am told all parties including agent Alain Roy are trying to get things back on track.
All parties want the same thing, which is for Nils to play well and find his confidence." Dhaliwal said on Friday.
But could we see Patrik Allvin trade the 24-year-old just months after giving him a three-year extension?
Kevin Weekes says 3 teams have explored the possibility of trading for Nils Hoglander
In a post on X on Friday, ESPN insider and former NHL goaltender Kevin Weekes shared that Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander's name has been generating some interest on the trade market recently.
Weekes went on to add that a trio of teams have explored the possibility of bringing in Nils Hoglander, those teams being the Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals.
"A name generating interest in the market is @Canucks F Hoglander. He's 24, with cost certainty given his current 3Yr 3M AAV, and skilled. I'm told the Caps, Pens and CBJ are among clubs that've explored the possibility." Weekes said.
Hoglander, a native of Bocktrask, Sweden, had a breakout year in 2023-24, which saw him score 24 goals, all of which came at even strength, with interested teams hoping he can get back to that form.
Seeing that the Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins are interested in Nils Hoglander isn't much of a surprise when considering they each have something the Canucks covet - a top-four defenseman, with David Jiricek and Marcus Pettersson both available.
We'll have to wait and see what Patrik Allvin has up his sleeve on the trade market, but with the injury to Filip Hronek, it seems like a defenseman will be acquired by the Canucks sooner rather than later.
