An NHL insider has given an update on the potential availability of Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson on the trade market heading into the summer.
This summer should be an interesting one for the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin as the club has some areas they would like to address including the second line center position, but there have also been rumors surrounding players on their roster right now, including Elias Pettersson.
Elias Pettersson is coming off a tough year, registering just 45 points in 64 games, the lowest total of his career aside from the covid-shortened 2021 campaign and many have been wondering if he'd be better off getting a fresh start with a new organization.

While he may have struggled to produce offensively last season, Elias Pettersson was still one of the best defensively, according to RonoHockey.com, which could help his trade value this summer, if the Vancouver Canucks decide that's an avenue they'd like to pursue.
In late May, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported reported that the Vancouver Canucks are beginning to take calls from teams regarding the Swedish forward, with his full no-movement clause set to kick in on Canada Day.
""The 26-year-old centre will see his no-movement clause kick-in July 1 and the belief across the NHL is the Canucks will continue to entertain trade calls. It does not sound like the price tag has changed much, if at all, so a team will have to pay up to pry him out of B.C. Do the Sabres take another swing? They surely won't be the lone team to try." Pagnotta said.
It's been a bit quite on the Elias Pettersson front in the last week, but on Tuesday's edition of Sekeres and Price, TSN insider Darren Dreger gave his thoughts on the situation.
Dreger said that he isn't hearing much about Elias Pettersson right now, adding that teams that may have had interest in the past could be calling Patrik Allvin now to see what it could cost to land the forward.
He went on to share that one team that did have interest in Elias Pettersson recently was the Colorado Avalanche, but that subsided after they signed Brock Nelson to a three-year extension.
If the Vancouver Canucks are going to trade Elias Pettersson, it more than likely will come over the next few weeks because after July 1st, the play has full control over any moves the team wants to make involving him.
Dating back to earlier this year, some of the teams that have shown interest in Elias Pettersson include the Buffalo Sabres and the Carolina Hurricanes, which would've involved Martin Necas, but he ended up being dealt to Colorado as part of the package for Mikko Rantanen in January.
