An Original Six franchise has reportedly circled back on Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood after he was made available on the trade market back in late-November.

With the club taking a big dip in the National Hockey League's overall standings last month, the Vancouver Canucks' front office decided to make all of their pending UFAs available to other teams.
"According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'" Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said.

In what shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone around hockey, forward Kiefer Sherwood has drawn the most interest of those made available by the Vancouver Canucks in recent weeks, with upwards of ten to 12 teams in the mix for the 30-year-old winger despite the extremely high asking price set by Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford.
"The Canucks have shopped him around the league and originally wanted a good, young prospect. According to league sources, the Wild offered one (it's unclear who) and the Canucks have since changed gears. Reportedly, they now want a good roster player and have also asked teams for a first-round pick." Joe Smith and Michael Russo of The Athletic said recently.

A few weeks ago, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali reported that he wouldn't be surprised if one of the teams interested in Kiefer Sherwood is the Boston Bruins, who currently sit third in the Atlantic Division behind fellow Original Six clubs, the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens.
"A lot of teams are interested in Sherwood and Garland.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Bruins are interested in Sherwood." Dhaliwal said according to X user Taj1944.

There isn't a timeline for the Vancouver Canucks to get a trade done with Kiefer Sherwood nor is it fully known who remains in the mix for him, but according to Jimmy Murphy of RG Media, the Boston Bruins have circled back on Kiefer Sherwood recently.
"Another NHL source has confirmed to R.org that the Bruins have circled back on Sherwood." Murphy said.

The Boston Bruins would be an interesting landing spot for the Columbus, Ohio native and they certainly have the assets required to get a deal done with the Vancouver Canucks before the deadline on Friday, March 6th.
Two players that the Vancouver Canucks could potentially target from the Boston Bruins include 22-year-old winger Fabian Lysell, who is having a great start to the 2025-26 season with AHL Providence, along with center prospect Matthew Poitras.
