A pair of former members of the Vancouver Canucks are among a lengthy list of 43 players who were placed on the National Hockey League's waiver wire on Sunday.

Sunday marked the final days that teams around the National Hockey League could utilize the waiver wire before opening night rosters need to be submitted to the league's office in New York.
Due to this, we've seen an influx of teams using waivers in recent days, including the Vancouver Canucks, with some former members of the organization also landing on the wire, most recently Zack MacEwen, who was just traded to the New Jersey Devils on Friday.
Today, a total of 43 players were placed on waivers including a few names that are very familiar to Vancouver Canucks fans, two of whom suited with the big club in the NHL.

Just after 11 a.m. this morning, the full waiver list was unveiled on social media and there wasn't too many surprises, as teams make their final cuts before the 2025-26 season begins on Tuesday night.
Among the 43 players on waivers on Sunday are former Vancouver Canucks forward Jack Studnicka (Florida Panthers), goaltender Michael DiPietro (Boston Bruins), along with 2025 Calder Cup champion Sammy Blais (Montreal Canadiens).
"Among the NHL players on waivers today: Michael DiPietro (BOS), Cayden Primeau (CAR), Justin Holl (DET), Jack Studnicka (FLA), Kaapo Kahkonen (MTL), Samuel Blais (MTL), Mads Soogard (OTT), Dakota Mermis (TOR), Michael Pezzetta (TOR), Henry Thrun (TOR) and Ville Heinola (WPG)." Chris Johnston of TSN & The Athletic posted on X.
With some teams around the National Hockey League in the market for a backup netminder or even just some depth in the goaltending department, it's hard to see Michael DiPietro clearing waivers on Monday, as Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports there is interest in him from other teams.
"More goalies of note on waivers today: DiPietro (BOS), Daws (NJ), Stevenson (WASH)...they have all had interest." Friedman said.
DiPietro, 26, was a former third round pick of Vancouver in 2017, making three appearances in the NHL with them before being traded to the Boston Bruins in October 2022 for the other former Canuck on waivers today - Jack Studnicka.
The Windsor, Ontario native has been one of the best goaltenders in the American Hockey League in the last couple of seasons, putting up an impressive 2.05 goals against average and .927 save percentage in 40 games with the Providence Bruins during the 2024-25 campaign.
