A National Hockey League insider recently gave a big update regarding the Vancouver Canucks' pursuit on of forward help on the trade market ahead of opening night.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager has some big decisions to make on Sunday regarding the team's opening night roster and while things might have gotten a bit easier in terms of who to send down & who to keep due to the unfortunate injury to Nils Hoglander, it isn't going to be easy to replace him in their lineup.
The Canucks announced that after undergoing surgery to fix a lower-body injury he sustained during the preseason, Hoglander is going to be out of action for the next eight-to-ten weeks, so realistically, we might not see him back in the lineup until around Christmas, depending on how his rehab goes.
Because of this, it looks like the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin are starting to look externally for help for their forward group.

In an article for The Fourth Period on Saturday, NHL insider David Pagnotta revealed that the Vancouver Canucks are scouring the trade market for a middle-six forward.
Pagnotta went on to add that while Vancouver might only have a tad over a million in available cap space, Allvin will be able to open up some more money by placing some players on waivers today, but sources tell him that it's unclear if a deal is imminent or if it will carry into the season before a trade is completed.
"The Vancouver Canucks are believed to be looking for a middle-six forward to add to their roster due to winger Nils Hoglander missing the next eight-to-ten weeks because of an injury." Pagnotta said.

He added, "The Canucks have just over $1.33 million in available salary cap space, according to PuckPedia, but can create additional space by sending one or more waivers-exempt players down.

Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been exploring options, according to separate league sources, but it is unclear if a move is imminent."

One player to keep an eye on, as reported by several over the last week including David Pagnotta himself, is Chicago Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel, as the Original Six franchise is looking to give him a fresh start elsewhere.
Among the teams that Pagnotta believes are interested in the Nuremburg, Germany native is the Vancouver Canucks, along with the Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks - three other clubs who are looking for someone who is capable of producing in a middle-six role.
Beyond Reichel, it's unclear who else the Vancouver Canucks could be eyeing up right now, but based on different roster situations around the league, perhaps someone like David Kampf, who was placed on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs and cleared on Saturday, could be of interest to Patrik Allvin.
