An insider shared on Monday that a potential Vancouver Canucks forward target will be hitting the free agent market on Canada Day, which is quickly approaching.

With the opening of free agency two weeks away, it's going to get quite busy, very quickly, for teams around the National Hockey League, including the Vancouver Canucks.
Vancouver is set to lose forward Brock Boeser on July 1st, which will leave a massive hole in the team's lineup, but the team is determined to find a replacement that'll make a similar impact that the 28-year-old did during his time with the organization.

Potential forward target to hit the free agent market on Canada Day

Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks' management group have likely been eyeing up players to target in the past few weeks, whether it be through a trade or free agency.
The club has been linked to have been linked to a number of different players recently including two-time Stanley Cup champion Bryan Rust, as well as one of their former first round picks - Jared McCann and now, there's a new name to keep an eye on once the market opens on July 1st.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Washington Capitals forward Andrew Mangiapane will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and his return to the team next season seems pretty unlikely at this point.
Pagnotta also mentioned that Mangiapane changed his agent recently and is now represented by Allain Roy of RSG Hockey, who has a connection to the Vancouver Canucks as Akito Hirose, Cole McWard, Nils Hoglander, Kiefer Sherwood and Sawyer Mynio are all clients of his, according to PuckPedia.
"As the Capitals navigate their off-season plan, it looks like Andrew Mangiapane will be hitting July 1 as a UFA. Also, of note, Mangiapane has switched agents and is now represented by Allain Roy at RSG Hockey." Pagnotta said.
Mangiapane, a native of Toronto, Ontario, was selected in the sixth round by the Calgary Flames back in 2015 and after 417 games with the club, was traded to the Washington Capitals, where he spent the 2024-25 campaign.
The 29-year-old saw a drop in production this season, putting up just 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 81 games, along with two points in ten postseason contests.
While he might not be the most ideal player to take over for Brock Boeser, he has shown signs during his time in Calgary of being a reliable middle-six forward and could come at a very reasonable cost this summer, with AFP Analytics projecting that he'll land a two-year deal in the range of $3.8 million AAV.
