A New York Post reporter recently shared a pretty big mock trade that would see the Vancouver Canucks deal captain Quinn Hughes to the New Jersey Devils to play with his brothers Jack and Luke.

As the Vancouver Canucks met for their season-ending media availability, President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford admitted that Quinn Hughes has expressed a desire to eventually play with his brothers Jack and Luke, who are currently on the New Jersey Devils.
Rutherford jokingly suggested that one way to do that is by bringing the brothers to Vancouver, but quickly stopped himself from going any further to avoid tampering charges from the National Hockey League.

New York Post's Larry Brooks shares mock trade sending Quinn Hughes to New Jersey Devils

In a recent article on the New York Post, Larry Brooks believes it would be ideal for both the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils to potentially discuss a Quinn Hughes trade sooner rather than later.
If the Vancouver Canucks were to move Quinn Hughes within the next 12 months rather than ahead of the trade deadline in the 2026-27 season, before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, then Patrik Allvin could maximize the return the organization would get for their captain.
Later on in his article, Brooks suggested a mock trade that would see the New Jersey Devils land Quinn Hughes, while the Vancouver Canucks would receive the following:
- One of Seamus Casey or Simon Nemec.
- A first-round pick
- One of Anton Silayev or Arseni Gritsyuk.
- Forward Dawson Mercer.
The names suggested by Larry Brooks would be a big help for the Vancouver Canucks, especially on the blue line if they were to land someone like Simon Nemec AND potentially Anton Silayev as well.
However, losing someone like Quinn Hughes who is already considered a top-five player in Vancouver Canucks franchise history, would be devastating for the team regardless of what the return is.
We'll have to wait and see where things go on the Quinn Hughes front over the next year as he's eligible to sign an extension with the Vancouver Canucks as of July 1st, 2026.
