Former Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet appeared to blatantly lie to the organization after it was revealed what his intentions were when it comes to the location of his next job.

The Vancouver Canucks continue their search for a new head coach following Rick Tocchet's departure in late April and many are still curious what the future holds for the team's former bench boss.
After the Anaheim Ducks hired three-time Stanley Cup champion Joel Quenneville this week, just six head coaching vacancies remain in the National Hockey League, not including Vancouver, so Rick Tocchet will have to make a decision pretty quickly on where he wants to coach next.

When speaking with reporters after Tocchet's departure, Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford shared that the former bench boss wanted to return to the East Coast to be closer to family, which is completely understandable as it's never easy being away from loved one, especially for the length of an NHL season.
"Jim Rutherford says Rick Tocchet wanted to move back to the Eastern USA and be closer to his family. Was part of the reason Tocchet left the #Canucks." Noah Strang of Daily Hive said on X.

However, while Jim Rutherford said that Tocchet wanted to head back East, it looks like the ex-Canucks coach might be reconsidering that after he reportedly interviewed with the Seattle Kraken and spoke with the Anaheim Ducks before they went with Joel Quenneville, both of which are in Vancouver's division.
"Rutherford used Tocchet wanting to return to the east coast to be closer to family as the main reason he was leaving and now he's open to coaching multiple west coast teams.

Pure comedy." X user @taj1994 said.
The odds that Rick Tocchet lands with an Eastern Conference team are still pretty high, if he does want to coach next season, with vacancies remaining in Boston, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, with the bench boss reportedly being the Bruins' top target as of Thursday.
