Today, NHL insider and TSN analyst Darren Dreger revealed that he talked with the Buffalo Sabres, and confirmed that their are West Coast teams calling trying to land Byram. He did mention that the team is not actively shopping him, and that it is not guaranteed the Canucks were one of the callers, but, here is why we think they have to be.
What do we know? We know that West coast teams have been calling for Byram, we know that just last week, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin revealed that the team is actively looking to upgrade their top-4 defensive group, with the likes of Rasmus Andersson and Marcus Pettersson are among the top names.
But the main piece of evidence is that, Dreger reveled this information on a Canucks podcast, it would only make sense for him to bring up this information if Allvin was one of the callers trying to acquire Byram.
After a slew of concussions and injuries, Byram has finally got a fresh start with the Buffalo Sabres this season, and has taken off with that opportunity. In 12 games this season, he has 1 goal and 5 assists, and the most impressive thing about his game is that his defensive play has improved greatly in just the few games. If Patrik Allvin can get a deal done, Byram would be a great addition to the the Canucks blue line.
