Suspension Incoming? Canucks' Elias Pettersson Exits Game Injured After Nasty Hit From Mathieu Olivier

If things could not get worse for the Vancouver Canucks, a scary scene has just taken place in Vancouver as Elias Pettersson (D) is being medically evaluated after a nasty hit from Columbus Blue Jackets power forward Mathieu Oiliver.
Just like the 2024-25 season, this year for the Vancouver Canucks is already starting to be one to not remember as they have dealt with a slew of injuries, which is clearly affecting their win/loss record.
Vancouver Canucks Rookie Elias Pettersson injured from dirty hit by Mathieu Olivier
The Canucks bad luck continues, as rookie defenseman Elias Pettersson appears to have been injured after receiving a nasty hit from Columbus blue jackets, power forward Mathieu Olivier.
That is a dirty, dirty hit by Mathieu Olivier on Elias Pettersson (D). Right through the numbers, bounced Pettersson's head off the stanchion. Rightfully gets a five-minute major and a game misconduct. #Canucks
The refs agreed that the hit was egregious and gave Olivier a five minute major and a game-misconduct for his actions.
Unfortunately, the Nucks were unable to capitalize on the lengthy man advantage as they try to crawl back from a 2-1 deficit.
Pettersson (D) is still being evaluated by team personnel and has not returned to the Vancouver Canucks bench.
With all the injuries already this season, the Canucks cannot afford to lose Pettersson as well, especially with the team's defence being ranked at the bottom of the league.
Hopefully he is OK and we will provide updates when the team issues them one.
