Vancouver Canucks' Biggest Disadvantage For the 2025-26 Season Has Been Revealed
The Vancouver Canucks will have a big disadvantage for the 2025-26 NHL season and they'll need to find a way to overcome that and push for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
It's been a few weeks now since the National Hockey League has released their schedule for the 2025-26 season, which will see the Vancouver Canucks
start things off at Rogers Arena against the Calgary Flames.
However,
it certainly won't be an easy start for the Canucks, with six of their first eight games away from home and some tough tests early on including against the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars on October 11th and October 16th, respectively.
Having to play six of eight contests away from Rogers Arena will be tough, but it pales in comparison to another disadvantage the Vancouver Canucks are facing for the 2025-26 campaign.
Vancouver Canucks to face big disadvantage for 2025-26 season
Being a team on the West Coast isn't easy, whether you're the Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Kraken, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks or others, as travelling takes up a lot of your time.
Going back and forth between home and the East Coast for a road trip, like Vancouver's to New Jersey, New York, Boston and Philadelphia in December, is exhausting, but it's something teams in the West have to deal with on a yearly basis.
Some new data released by Bookies.com showed which teams will have to travel the most this coming season (by miles) and as expected, the Vancouver Canucks rank pretty high.
The Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks take the top four spots at over 50,000 miles that they'll travel this coming season.
Meanwhile for the Vancouver Canucks, they come in at fifth on Bookies.com's list with an expected 48,378 miles (76,247.5 kilometers) that they'll be traveling between October and mid-April.
"Miles traveled for #NHL Teams."
Because of where the Canucks and Eastern Conference teams are located, obviously nothing can be done about this by the National Hockey League.
The only way to cut down on the amount of travel is by limiting the amount of road trips to the East and have Western Conference teams play 5-6 games each time they make their way to face Eastern Conference clubs, something the league already tries their hardest to do.
