Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes opened up recently regarding the team's slow start to the 2025-26 season and how the group is trying to remain positive.
The Vancouver Canucks had high expectations going into the 2025-26 season, with their main goal being to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after missing out in the spring.
Due to inconsistent play and injuries to countless players, including to star netminder Thatcher Demko who is out week-to-week, the Canucks have a 9-10-2 record through 21 games and will need to turn things around in a big way if they want to avoid missing out on the playoffs for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
After a slow start himself, captain Quinn Hughes has managed to pick up the pace, recording ten points in his last three games, earning Third Star of the Week honours from the NHL and recently sat down with Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet to discuss the team's sluggish start to the 2025-26 campaign.

When speaking with Sportsnet this week, Quinn Hughes said that himself and the group are trying to find ways to remain positive amid their slow start to the season and are looking to push forward because they can only control what's in front of them.
"You can always find a way to be negative. Always. But you can always find a way to be positive, too. I've been there at times this year where you're on the negative side a bit, and you've just got to flip it and control what you can control. I mean, it'd be nice if we started 7-3, but we didn't. Now we're at where we're at and just have to move on from here. Obviously, I'm never happy losing." Hughes said to Iain MacIntyre.
Hughes and the Canucks have a tough schedule in their next ten games as they're set to face teams such as the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, Utah Mammoth, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, among others.
If Vancouver can somehow go 7-3-0 in their next ten, it'll set them up really nicely for their five-game road trip in mid-December and hopefully at that point, Adam Foote's group will at least occupy one of the two wild card positions in the Western Conference standings.
