The National Hockey League has made a big announcement this week regarding Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes and his strong play of late.

After a 1-1-1 road trip, the Vancouver Canucks will head home to Rogers Arena sitting 12th in the Western Conference with a 9-10-2 record through 21 games, which isn't where the team or the fan base expected they'd be at at the quarter-season mark.
Injuries have unfortunately played a big role early in the season including with captain Quinn Hughes, who was unable to suit up in their road trip opener last Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes, but after finishing up the week strong on Sunday afternoon in Tampa Bay, the Canucks blueliner is receiving some recognition from the National Hockey League.

NHL makes big announcement regarding Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes

In a post on their website on Monday, the National Hockey League announced that Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has been named their third star of the week (November 10th to 16th) after registering seven assists in two games.
"THIRD STAR - QUINN HUGHES, D, VANCOUVER CANUCKS

Hughes compiled a League-high seven assists in two games (0-7-7) as the Canucks (9-9-2, 20 points) went 1-1-1 overall. He assisted on all three Vancouver goals in a 5-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets Nov. 11. Hughes, who missed a Nov. 14 contest at CAR due to injury, then registered his fourth career four-point performance with four helpers in a 6-2 comeback win over the Tampa Bay Lightning Nov. 16. The 26-year-old Hughes, the 2023-24 James Norris Memorial Trophy winner, ranks fourth among NHL defensemen with 1-16-17 this season (15 GP) despite missing five of the Canucks' first 20 games." the NHL's Public Relations site said in a press release.

Joining Hughes was Alex DeBrincat of the Detroit Red Wings, who was named second star of the week after having five goals and six points in three games, along with Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson, who given the title of first star of the week after putting up an impressive six goals and nine points in three contests.
"Jason Robertson, Alex DeBrincat and Quinn Hughes have been named the NHL's «Three Stars» for the week ending Nov. 16." the NHL said.

A little over 24 hours after he put up four assists against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Quinn Hughes started making his case for back-to-back star of the week honours after another multi-point effort.
During last night's 8-5 loss to the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, Quinn Hughes picked up three assists, bringing his season point total to 20 (one goal, 19 assists) in 16 games, good enough for second in the National Hockey League among defenseman.
Hughes will look to continue his hot streak on Thursday night as the Vancouver Canucks welcome the Dallas Stars to Rogers Arena for their second meeting against each other in a little over a month.
