Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Finally Breaks Silence on J.T. Miller & Elias Pettersson's Drama
Amid Vancouver Canucks' Quinn Hughes returning to practice for the first time since his injury, the captain has finally broke his silence on the all the drama surrounding his teammates J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson.
With all the issues surrounding the Vancouver Canucks on and off the ice, captain Quinn Hughes has always been the voice of reason and consistency when it is needed, and he still continues to do that even when not in the lineup.
He spoke to the media after practice in Montreal today, stating that this year has been a hard season for him and the team mentally.
Although difficult, he reiterated that the NHL season is long, and every year has its moments of being a major grind.
«Yeah, definitely, a lot more challenges, more ups and downs,» Hughes said Sunday in a quiet conversation at the Canadiens' practice facility. «For sure it wears you down. But that's like any other year. I mean, last year I can remember feeling mentally exhausted after the season. Definitely this year has a little bit more of that.
«But I think my game has never been better, so I know it's not affecting me (on the ice). As far as our team, I think all this stuff, it's just going to make us stronger.
Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Comments on J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson Feud
As for as the issues and trade rumors that have been clouding the Vancouver Canucks all season long pertaining to the feud between Miller and Pettersson, Quinn Hughes has decided to break his silence and give his take on what it is doing to the team and his game.
«Whatever we have going on, we'll figure it out. And I know everyone in here wants to win. You know, it's not as complicated as people make it seem. For me, my focus today would be: It's my first day back with the team, so have a good practice. And from a group perspective, I know everyone's coming here and they want to win tomorrow. That's all.»
Hughes added that he feels a trade is the least of his concern right now, he says that he can only worry and act on what he can control, and if the team decides to make a crazy decision, it is out of his hands.
«I mean... that can't be my focus,» he said. «I can't worry about if they'll do this or they'll do that or if something crazy happens. All I can control is the controllables, and for me, that's my effort and my mindset.
«I don't know why we wouldn't be focused. I mean, it's January, we're right in the hunt and there's a lot to look forward to.
