Lots of criticism surrounded Elias Pettersson at the beginning of the season, but the centerman has picked up his game in a big way, and last night he passed J.T. Miller for 10th all time in assists in Vancouver Canucks franchise history.
"Noah Strang on X posted that Pettersson' trade talks are back in circulation, after it was more likely for him to be bought it out with how he was playing. Now that he is starting to produce again, he could bring back a lot of return for the Canucks."-Stinson
Pettersson keeps climbing the ladder in Canucks all-time scoring.
Izzy Cheung of the Hockey News reported on the milestone achieved for Pettersson. This was the last real record he needed to pass, in order to be ahead of Miller in every category, with the exception of short-handed goals, but that's not a major category.
"This is one of the final NHL records Pettersson has officially surpassed Miller in throughout franchise history. Previously, Pettersson has logged more goals (192), overall points (478), and power play goals (60) than Miller in each player's time as a Canuck. The only record they are still both tied in are shorthanded goals for with eight apiece as a member of Vancouver."-Cheung
In the grand scale of things compared to the rest of the Canucks franchise leaders, Pettersson is making a lot of ground, currently tied with the great Pavel Bure in points, one more point and he passes him to be 6th all-time in Canucks history.
"Pettersson has been on a roll lately, putting up four goals and six assists (and counting) in the past seven games played. Throughout 23 games played during the 2025-26 season, he has seven goals and 14 assists, putting him at a points per game pace of 0.875. "-Cheung
The Canucks season has been miserable so far, but Pettersson has been the bright spot. Doing exactly what he has been claiming he would do at the beginning of the season, he is starting to look like the old Pettersson but bigger, stronger and faster.
