An NHL insider has given an update recently regarding the Vancouver Canucks potentially adding to their roster before training camp begins in mid-September.
After landing Evander Kane in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers at the end of June, re-signing Brock Boeser, along with completing some other minor signings, the Vancouver Canucks have set themselves up nicely on the NHL roster, as well as depth-wise.
Despite having an active July, reports indicated that the club wasn't done adding to their roster, with their sights set on bringing in another centerman, potentially someone like Jack Roslovic, who they've been in talks with recently.
While the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin are remaining aggressive and wanting to land another piece, it's not going to be easy and one NHL insider has given an update on their pursuit of center help.
NHL insider gives update on Vancouver Canucks' attempt to add to their roster
During an appearance on Sekeres and Price late this week, National Hockey League insider Jeff Marek shared his thoughts on all things relating to the Vancouver Canucks including the team's attempt to make another addition late into the summer.
According to Jeff Marek, he wouldn't be surprised if the Vancouver Canucks began the 2025-26 season with who they have now, meaning Filip Chytil in the second line center hole, and potentially they could utilize that cap space early on in the year if another intriguing name becomes available.
"I know everybody wants everything done right away and wants everything settled before training camp and we don't want competition for spots and we know what the team is, etc., etc. I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't even be surprised if, you know, the Vancouver Canucks and we talk so much and you guys talks have talked so much about the second line center position. I wouldn't even be surprised if they just leave that cap space open and see how the chips fall after October and November and see where the team is at and see where the health is at and see what emerges in the marketplace." Marek said.

On paper, this is a playoff team, but everything has to go well for that to happen in a highly competitive Pacific Division, including everyone staying healthy and being at the top of their game, with guys like Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser hoping to have career-years after their production dropped off a bit last year.
