Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin's Reputation Takes a Major Hit After Eye-Opening Report Surfaces
A reporter has given an honest evaluation of Patrik Allvin's tenure as General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks, a role he took on back in January of 2022.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has been on the job for over three years now and that feels like more than enough time to take a look at what he's done to shape the team's NHL roster and organization as a whole.
The Swede has made his fair share of moves that haven't sat well with the fan base,
including the decision to trade Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs last week and recently, a reporter has gone in-depth to truly evaluate the work that Patrik Allvin has done during his time at the helm of the Vancouver Canucks.

In a recent article on Daily Hive, Trevor Beggs took a look back at Patrik Allvin's tenure as General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks, which officially began on January 26th, 2022.
Throughout his time as General Manager, Patrik Allvin has made some bold decisions including trading the team's captain
Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders in 2023 and
dealing J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers back in January.
When it comes to some good decisions made by Allvin, those include acquiring defenseman
Nikita Zadorov in November 2023 - who played a big role in their run to Game 7 of the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, signing
Andrei Kuzmenko out of the KHL and trading for defenseman
Filip Hronek from the Detroit Red Wings.
In the last four weeks, the Canucks General Manager has been quite busy trying to keep his core together, hoping that they can make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs after missing out this year, which marked the fourth time in the last five seasons that's happened.
So far this summer, the Canucks have landed some size and scoring in their top-six by
acquiring Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers and in a bit of a surprising move,
were able to sign Brock Boeser to a long-term contract, keeping him in Vancouver until the summer of 2032.
Overall, Beggs believes that Patrik Allvin has done a good job with the Vancouver Canucks, saying that he "has more wins than losses".
However, he thinks that it'll be hard for them to emerge from the middle of the pack in the NHL, adding that if everything clicks, they could be a top-ten team in the league, but if it goes south, like last year, a bottom-ten finish can't be ruled out.
"It's easy to get caught up in how frustrating the last 12 months have been, but Allvin's resume has more wins than losses.
It's not hard to picture the Canucks as currently constructed being a top-10 team if everything goes right. You can also envision them being a bottom-10 team if everything goes wrong." Beggs said.
We'll have to wait and see how this summer's moves will play out for Patrik Allvin and if the team will be able to get over the hump and into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While it's too early to say that the Falun, Sweden native is on the hot seat, if things go south again, it's hard to see him finishing out his contract with the club, which is believed to run through the 2026-27 season.
