Vancouver Canucks go back to the drawing board with new lineup ahead of anticipated Matchup Vs. Red Wings

After taking down the Minnesota Wild on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night, the Vancouver Canucks are back in action tonight for the third game of a four-game homestand as Moritz Seider and the Detroit Red Wings come to town.

It hasn't been easy for Vancouver this season, especially in the injury department, as the Canucks have been without Swedish forward Nils Hoglander since late September.

Hoglander suffered a lower-body injury in the preseason that required surgery and was given an eight-to-ten week timeline to return to game action and it appears that his season debut will be coming tonight against Detroit.

As the club took to the ice this morning at Rogers Arena in preparation for tonight's clash with the Red Wings, it appears that the Vancouver Canucks are making a big change amid Elias Pettersson's injury, which they're hoping to get an update on within the next day or two.

According to Adam Foote, Nils Hoglander will make his 2025-26 season debut tonight against the Detroit Red Wings and is expected to skate on the fourth line with Drew O'Connor and Arshdeep Bains.

Foote also confirmed that Kevin Lankinen, who is coming off a 4-1 loss to the Utah Mammoth on Friday night, will be between the pipes for the Canucks tonight, marking his 16th start of the season.

Meanwhile, Vancouver's other three forward lines remain untouched from Saturday's win over the Minnesota Wild, with David Kampf centering the top line, while Aatu Raty and Max Sasson assume the 2C and 3C roles, respectively.

The defensive pairings are also expected to remain the same this evening - Quinn Hughes & Filip Hronek, Elias Pettersson & Tyler Myers, as well as Marcus Pettersson & Tom Willander.
