A Vancouver Canucks forward prospect has been mentioned as a potential candidate to be placed on the National Hockey League's waiver wire before opening night.

The Vancouver Canucks feel that they are in a better position depth-wise heading into the 2025-26 season than they were a year ago thanks to moves moves made by Patrik Allvin this summer, as well as the development of some of the team's prospects.
Because of the amount of depth Vancouver has, it's going to lead to some tough decisions in the next week to ten days, before the club needs to submit their opening night roster to the National Hockey League and unfortunately, some of those prospects may end up on the waiver wire.

Vancouver Canucks forward prospect named as potential candidate for NHL waiver wire

In a recent article for The Athletic, Corey Pronman and Harman Dayal mentioned two members of the Vancouver Canucks as possible waiver candidates before opening night, one of whom was Vitali Kravtsov, while the other was Surry, BC's Arshdeep Bains.
Pronman and Dayal believe that if Arshdeep Bains were to land on the NHL's waiver wire over the next week or so, he could be an interesting bottom-six pick up for another team around the league who is searching for depth at the forward position.
"Bains is a smart two-way player with crafty playmaking skills and savvy defensive details. He has significantly improved his skating quickness, which has made him more disruptive on the forecheck. He's average-sized and hasn't yet learned how to translate his offense to the NHL, with one point in 21 career games. With that said, Bains has been a late bloomer at pretty much every level, and he's got enough NHL-caliber tools that he could be worth a roll of the dice as a hardworking, reliable bottom-six winger with playmaking upside." Pronman & Dayal said.

Bains, 24, is set to enter his fourth season in the Vancouver Canucks organization and after a very impressive showing in the Calder Cup Playoffs, registering 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists) in 24 games, is hard to see him not landing on their opening night roster, unless he's outplayed by someone else pushing for the same role in the last four preseason contests.
At this point, anything can happen, but losing Arshdeep Bains to another team via waivers would be frustrating for the Vancouver Canucks, as they believe he has the tools to become a full-time NHLer very soon.
