An NHL insider thinks the Vancouver Canucks could circle back on another center target in the coming weeks if they end up missing out on UFA Jack Roslovic.
The Vancouver Canucks have been in the market for a centerman all summer long as they look to potentially add someone to play on the second line, giving them some more depth alongside
Elias Pettersson,
Filip Chytil and potentially
Teddy Blueger, if the latter is not traded before the season begins.
Throughout the last month, the Canucks have been linked to a number of different centerman through both trade and free agency, with one name they've
they've been in talks with being Jack Roslovic, a former first round pick.
Vancouver Canucks could circle back to another center target if they lose out on Jack Roslovic
As of this week, the Vancouver Canucks
are still speaking with Jack Roslovic's camp, as are a few other teams around the NHL, Cam Robinson of
Elite Prospects says, but he isn't too sure if Patrik Allvin has given the 28-year-old a good enough offer just yet.
"We know [the Canucks have] been in contact with Roslovic's team, a good amount; there's a handful of clubs that are kicking the tires on him." Robinson said.
He added, "He was expecting this to take while; I'm not even 100% sure that [the Canucks have] put a solid offer in front of him yet"
During his appearance on
Sekeres and Price, Robinson said that if the Vancouver Canucks were to lose out on Jack Roslovic at some point in the near future, perhaps they could circle back on Minnesota Wild restricted free agent forward
Marco Rossi.
"If it's not him...I know they were trying to get Marco Rossi too; maybe there is an opportunity to circle back" Robinson said.
Rossi, 23,
has been linked to the Vancouver Canucks for well over a month now, with Patrik Allvin reportedly making an offer for him in mid-June which included the team's first round pick (15th overall) and another piece, either an NHL roster player or prospect, but Wild General Manager Bill Guerin turned it down.
Over a month later and Rossi still hasn't been able to agree to terms on a new contract with the Minnesota Wild, leading to more questions about his future in the State of Hockey and depending on the cost, the Feldkirch, Austria native is someone that the Vancouver Canucks should absolutely go after once again.
Rossi has taken big strides in his development over the last two seasons and saw a 20-point jump in his production between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns, finishing this past year with 60 points (24 goals, 36 assists) in 82 games.
It's going to be interesting to see what transpires throughout the month of August when it comes to Vancouver's pursuit of a centerman and if Patrik Allvin is able to bring someone in who can at least play a middle-six role before training camp begins in mid-September.
