The Vancouver Canucks reportedly had a trade offer turned down recently for a Minnesota Wild RFA that could help the team at the second line center position.

Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks are going to be quite busy in the coming weeks as the team has a number of holes they need to fill ahead of the 2025-26 season.
One big area the Canucks need to address at some point this summer is the second line center position, a role that was once held by J.T. Miller prior to his trade to the New York Rangers and then by Filip Chytil and Pius Suter afterwards.
Since early May, the Vancouver Canucks have been linked to numerous players that could be a fit for that role and it looks like Patrik Allvin made an offer recently for an RFA that's currently a member of the Minnesota Wild.

Minnesota Wild reportedly reject Vancouver Canucks' trade offer

According to Patrick Johnston of The Province, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin offered the Wild their 2025 first round pick (15th overall), as well as an unknown player, in exchange for restricted free agent centerman Marco Rossi, however Minnesota turned it down.
"As first reported by The Athletic's Mike Russo, Postmedia has confirmed the Canucks have tried to pry the young centre away from the Wild in a trade, offering up their 15th overall draft pick in next week's NHL Entry Draft, plus a player. Whether that player is on the NHL roster or a prospect isn't currently known." Johnston said.

The Vancouver Canucks have been one of a number of teams linked to Marco Rossi in the last couple of weeks, with the Minnesota Wild and the Austrian forward not making any progress on a contract extension and the player being frustrated with how he's been utilized.
Rossi, a native of Feldkirch, Austria registered 60 points (24 goals, 36 assists), 23 penalty minutes and was a plus-three in 82 regular season games and went on to add three points in six contests during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While Rossi's size might be a deterrent for some teams, he could be a solid second line centerman for the Vancouver Canucks despite being only 5'9".
The 23-year-old's production this past season opened plenty of eyes and proved to everyone that he's more than capable of producing, even with a smaller role and if he's given the opportunity to play in the top-six, perhaps we could see another 20-point jump next year.
