Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has announced the team's first cuts from training camp ahead of their preseason opener against the Seattle Kraken.

Fans of the Vancouver Canucks have had Sunday, September 21st circled on their calendar for quite some time now as it marks their first game of the NHL's 2025 preseason slate, with Adam Foote's squad taking the trip south to Climate Pledge Arena to face Seattle.
Vancouver had a lot of players in training camp this year, 59 in total, so it was only a matter of time before the organization made cuts to the roster and that came a short while ago.

In a post on social media on Sunday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks trimmed their training camp roster to 50 after assigning players to either their respective junior clubs or Abbotsford of the American Hockey League.
22-year-old winger Josh Bloom was sent down to the Abbotsford Canucks today, as he hopes to stick around there on a full-time basis this season, and will be joined by Jackson Kunz, Cooper Walker and Dino Kambeitz, who were all released from their professional tryouts (PTO) in Vancouver in order to be assigned to the AHL.
Additionally, free agent defenseman Zack Sandhu, who was in camp on an amateur tryout (ATO) after impressing the team's staff during Rookie Camp last weekend, was sent back to the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals.
Four more Vancouver Canucks prospects are also on their way back to the Ontario Hockey League today as Riley Patterson heads back to the Niagara IceDogs, 2025 second rounder Aleksei Medvedev returns to the London Knights, Gabriel Chiarot is off to the Brampton Steelheads, while Kieren Dervin will be with the Kingston Frontenacs.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin has announced that the #Canucks have made the following roster updates:" the Canucks said on X.
Over the next week, Vancouver's training camp roster will continue to be reduced and it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see multiple rounds of players being cut after their first two preseason contests.
After tonight's game in Seattle, Vancouver will head to Abbotsford for a neutral site game at Abbotsford Centre where they'll take on the Calgary Flames.
