Vancouver Canucks Officially Place $58 Million Defenseman on the Trade Block

The 2024-25 campaign is one to forget for the Vancouver Canucks as they missed out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

In the weeks since their schedule concluded, the team underwent some changes, including behind the bench where Rick Tocchet left and was replaced by Adam Foote, who served as an Assistant Coach for parts of the last three season.

Behind the bench won't be the only changes coming to the Vancouver Canucks this summer as Jim Rutherford promised that they will be aggressive this summer to improve their roster, which could come through trade as they'd like to make a big splash and return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2026.

According the GOAT RADIO - Podcast, the Vancouver Canucks are reportedly shopping Czech defenseman Filip Hronek before his full no-movement clause kicks in on Tuesday, July 1st, adding that he would be a huge trade piece for Patrik Allvin leaving up to Canada Day.

As the podcast mentions in their post on X, given how well Victor Mancini has played since arriving in Vancouver in late January and throughout the Calder Cup Playoffs with the Abbotsford Canucks, along with the signing of top prospect Tom Willander, it isn't too surprising to see that Filip Hronek's name is out there on the trade market.

However, even though Hronek has been a horse on the blue line for the Vancouver Canucks in the last couple of seasons, his contract might scare away some teams as he's owed $7.25 million annually until the end of the 2031-32.

The Hradec Kralove, Czechia native is going to be a legit top-four defenseman for the majority of his contract, which could entice some teams that have plenty cap space heading into the summer, such as the Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes and Utah Mammoth.
