A mid-season trade to acquire some center help is reportedly a possibility for General Manager Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks according to a recent report.

As the start of Vancouver Canucks training camp inches closer and closer, the team continues to evaluate their options on the trade front, but the odds of them being able to actually land a centerman is pretty low at the moment and all signs point to the club beginning the season with how their roster stands currently.
Because of that, General Manager Patrik Allvin will need to remain patient and will likely need to wait well into the 2025-26 season before he can complete a trade, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it gives Filip Chytil time to prove to the club that he's capable of being in that 2C hole on a full-time basis.

Vancouver Canucks' predicted to make in-season trade for center help

While it may seem inevitable at this point especially after not being able to land one this summer, the Vancouver Canucks will continue to add later on in the 2025-26 season, as mentioned above, but in a recent article for Canucks Army, Stephan Roget predicts that Patrik Allvin will be able to swing a deal in January 2026.
"Normally, making any hockey-related prediction as specific as this should count as bold. But this time around, we're not so sure. If we're predicting that something that has already happened three times in a row will happen for a fourth time, is that truly bold? Some might say not. Then again, on the other hand, trades can happen at any time, and if another one truly goes down in January 2026, we're still going to feel pretty intelligent for having called it." Roget said.

For the last three January's, not only have the Vancouver Canucks completed a trade, but each of the four deals dating back to 2023 have been pretty significant.
Starting off in January 2023, with the Vancouver Canucks well out of the playoff picture and their captain set to become an unrestricted free agent in just a matter of months, Patrik Allvin pulled the trigger on a deal sending Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders in exchange for a package that included Aaty Raty.
The following year, Allvin made another big splash, acquiring Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames for a pretty sizable package that featured Andrei Kuzmenko, Hunter Brzustewicz and a 2024 first-round pick.
This past January, Allvin was able to make not one, but two massive deals, the first sending J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers and less than two hours later, acquiring a top-four defenseman - Marcus Pettersson from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
While there's no guarantee that Patrik Allvin will be able to make a deal four months from now, given his track record, it wouldn't shock anyone if the Vancouver Canucks were to complete a trade for that second line center they truly covet.
