We've officially hit draft day in the National Hockey League, with round one taking place tonight in Los Angeles and it's expected to be quite busy on the trade front throughout Friday.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has already dabbled in the trade market this week,
acquiring Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick, and it doesn't look like he'll be stopping there.
Vancouver Canucks reportedly receive bad news in their pursuit of Marco Rossi
Vancouver has been aggressive in their pursuit of center help so far this summer and earlier this week, a report came out that said Patrik Allvin submitted a trade offer to the Minnesota Wild for restricted free agent forward Marco Rossi.
Rossi, who is looking for a bit of a bigger role next season, reportedly isn't close in contract talks with the Minnesota Wild, which has led to his name entering the trade market in recent weeks.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Vancouver Canucks offered their 2025 first round pick (15th overall), along with another asset to the Wild for Marco Rossi, but it wasn't enough.
"Frank Seravalli: The rumour the Canucks offered the 15th pick+ for Marco Rossi is true; it's "going to take more" - SN 650" NHL Rumour Report said on X.
Meanwhile, on Monday's edition of Canucks Central, Satiar Shah says that he heard the Minnesota Wild are seeking a top prospect as well as the 15th overall selection for Marco Rossi.
"Sat just said Wild wanted a top prospect and 15th overall for Rossi" @Taj1944 said on X.
Given Rossi's age, his production and his potential, it's hard to blame the Minnesota Wild for wanting a big return for the Austrian forward who is set to turn 24 during training camp in September.
The Feldkirch native registered 60 points (24 goals, 36 assists), 26 penalty minutes and was a plus-three in 82 games during the regular season for the Wild, and went on to add three points in six Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
We'll have to wait and see where things go regarding Marco Rossi on Friday and if trade talks pick back up with the Vancouver Canucks before they're set to announce
the 15th overall pick tonight.
