The Vancouver Canucks are giving fans a chance to own a piece of team history.

As the installation of new seats progresses at Rogers Arena, the team is looking to part with over 18,000 maroon seats. On Friday, they offered these seats for sale to full season ticket holders.

'We want to give you the chance to take home your current seats from Rogers Arena,' the team said in an email to season ticket members.

Fans can purchase a seat, which is around 30 years old, for $50, with all proceeds going to the Canucks For Kids Fund charity.
Rob Williams from DH Sports writes that the idea of replacing the seats at Rogers Arena was first proposed by former Canucks COO Jeff Stipec in August 2018. Since then, it has become a topic of great interest for fans and some members of the media.
"The new seats are black and promise to have more cushion than the previous ones, which were installed before the building opened as GM Place in 1995." -Williams

While some mismatched seating might be visible for concerts and other events this summer, the full installation of the new seats is expected to be completed before the Canucks' next season begins.
