NHL makes a statement on former Canucks forward Tyler Toffoli
Former Vancouver Canucks forward Tyler Toffoli is heading back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2022 and following Thursday's game, the NHL made a statement featuring him.
On Thursday night, the Winnipeg Jets hosted the Calgary Flames in a game that had major implications on the playoff picture in the Western Conference. If the Jets were to win, they would clinch a berth in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, while a Calgary loss would eliminate them from playoff contention. That exact scenario took place, with the Jets winning 5-2 and Tyler Toffoli picking up a goal and six shots.
Following the game, the National Hockey League made a post on their public relations account on X, highlighting Tyler Toffoli as one of only two players on the Winnipeg Jets' roster to win a Stanley Cup in their career.
"Tyler Toffoli won the #StanleyCup as a rookie 10 years ago, while Laurent Brossoit eliminated the Jets en route to winning the Cup last year. Will they help guide the @NHLJets to a championship in 2024?" The NHL said.
They added, "NEW FACES HOPE TO FUEL LENGTHY JETS RUN
New faces include Alex Iafallo, Sean Monahan & Stanley Cup champ Tyler Toffoli. Laurent Brossoit has the only other Cup on Winnipeg's roster (last year w/ Vegas)." Toffoli, 31, has played very well this season for both the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets. In 73 games, the Scarborough, Ontario native has 51 points (31 goals, 20 assists), 14 penalty minutes and is a minus-11.
