Johnny Hockey's parents drop a bomb

Johnny Gaudreau has recently signed a pact for a great amount of money (7 year, $68.25M) this summer with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He's been good since the beginning of the season even though he's had to change linemates many times because of recent injuries to the other All-Star on the Jackets' roster, Patrik Laine. He's put up 7 goals and 13 assists for 20 points in just as many outings so far. I bet you that the Flames would absolutely love to have him in their lineup since they aren't doing so good since he and Matthew Tkachuk left.

Gaudreau's parent went to the media stating that Johnny Hockey wanted to commit to an 8-year-deal with the club back in the 2021 summer. Turns out they offered him a deal that was nowhere near his market value. The small forward was really embarassed by it all and then went on to conclude a carreer high 115 points the following season. Tough loss.

According to Gaudreau's folks, he never completely closed the door to returning to Calgary, but you can be certain that this offer played a major role in him not returning.
