The Vancouver Canucks have announced a retool and fans are expecting plenty of changes. That started off with the departure of their captain Bo Horvat who was traded to the New York Islanders last month and plenty of other notable players have been rumored to be available for the upcoming NHL trade deadline.
The New Jersey Devils selected Alexander Holtz with their 7th overall pick back in 2020z. The highly touted 21-year-old prospect seems to want out of New Jersey after it was revealed Holtz changed his profile picture and removed the Devils from all of his Social Media accounts including his Instagram. After the Devils demoted him to the AHL yet again.
Holtz has all the potential to be a star in this League but hasn't had the opportunity in New playing just 28 games for the Devils Holtz has 3 goals, and 3 assists, with a -11 rating meaning his defensive game needs some attention. However, as we know Vancouver loves its Swedish-born players and I think it would be worth wild for the Canucks General Manager to take a serious run at trying to acquire Holtz in Vancouver.
Holtz could possibly fit nicely on a line with hopeful future captain Elias Pettersson who could, be a big help to Holtz's development in the NHL and give the Canucks a new direction in their rebuild plans.
