MAJOR | Montreal Canadiens superstar netminder Carey Price about to copy Roberto Luongo?
The Montreal Canadiens' superstar netminder, Carey Price, has barely touched the ice with his team since his Stanley Cup Final appearance two years ago. While no formal announcements have been made regarding his future, it seems clear his playing career has ended.
Marc-Antoin Godin from the Athletic suggested that Price may have a new calling and drew an interesting comparison to the steps Roberto Luongo took once he retired from the game as a player. Recent reports showed that Price helped fellow goaltender Samuel Montenbeault prepare for the Men's World Championship. Luongo created perhaps the future of goaltending when he put together the team's goaltending excellence department in 2020; look where that led them.
The Panthers' goaltending has played a major part in their playoffs' success; Alex Lyon's stellar end-of-season tenure brought the team to the playoffs, and Sergei Bobrovsky has made an extremely strong case for the Conn-Smythe if the Panthers were to defeat the Golden Knights.
Marc-Antoine strongly believes that it's time the Canadiens and other teams in the NHL develop that part of their front offices. Are Roberto Luongo and Carey Price creating new jobs in the NHL? Developing a new pathway to success?
